Police Seek Witnesses To Leegomery Incident

Police in Telford are appealing for witnesses to come forward following an incident in Leegomery during the weekend.

An incident occurred between the occupants of two vehicles - a black BMW and a silver Polo, which were parked in Grainger Drive, at around 7.15pm on Saturday (8 September).

One occupant from each of the vehicles got out and a brief foot chase between the two occurred, towards Catterick Close.

It appears that the individual from the BMW, who was believed to be wearing a balaclava, may have been carrying a handgun.

The individual from the BMW soon returned back to the vehicle and it drove off towards Hadley.

The individual from the Polo made off.

Police are investigating the incident and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Jason Wells said: "The incident was reported to us by members of the public and we have been to the scene and carried out a thorough search of the area.

"As a result of our search we believe that no shots were fired, however, we are keeping an open mind.

"Nobody appears to have been injured, but this report is obviously extremely concerning.  We have carried out a number of enquiries, which will continue during the next few days. These include carrying out house to house enquiries, additional patrols and identifying CCTV opportunities. We would like to reassure members of the public that we are doing all we can to identify those involved.

"We believe that a number of people were in the area at the time so we would appeal to those individuals to come and speak to us. It is vital that they come forward. They can call police direct on the usual number 101 and speak to us in confidence. Or if they prefer they can call anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
