Police Warning Following Theft Of Trailer From Farm
Police officers are investigating following a theft in Herefordshire.
The incident occurred at a farm in Breinton sometime between 8pm on Wednesday 30 November and 9.15am on Thursday 1 December.
Sometime overnight it appears that thieves entered the grounds of the farm and then cut off a padlock that was securing a paddock in the grounds.
Once inside the paddock the thieves approached two trailers that were secured in the paddock and then cut the padlock off one of them.
Having cut the padlock off the trailer, the thieves then removed it from the paddock - by dragging it for a short distance - and it appears likely that they then fixed the trailer to a vehicle of some sort and made off with it.
A police spokesman said:
"The stolen trailer is described as a double axle Ifor Williams tipper trailer with vehicle ramps and a hand winch mounted onto it. The trailer is roughly four metres long and two metres wide and is thought to be worth around £5000.
"Officers investigating this theft are keen to hear from anyone who may have information about this theft and especially anyone who may have seen any suspicious vehicles in and around Breinton on Monday night or Tuesday morning.
"Over recent months there have been a number of trailer thefts across Herefordshire and police would like to remind people to do all they can to ensure their property is as secure as possible.
"Ideally expensive items like trailers and farm machinery should be kept out of sight in secure buildings because obviously they are far less likely to be targeted if they are hidden away.
"Meanwhile, anyone who believes they may have information about the incident in Breinton, or any of the recent trailer thefts, is asked to contact police in Telford on 0300 333 3000, or 101 - the new West Mercia Police non emergency telephone number.
"Alternatively, please remember that information can also be left anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you'd rather not get directly involved yourself."
