Police Witness Appeal Following Sex Assault In Shrewsbury
Police today issued an appeal for witnesses following a sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl in Shrewsbury.
The incident happened at or near Oxon School early on Saturday night when a youth forced the girl to commit a sex act.
Police say the youth may have followed the girl both before and after the incident and possibly walked with her for a short time.
Detective Sergeant John Weaver said today: "The exact location is not clear but the actual assault appears to have taken place at the back of Oxon School at some point between 5pm and 8pm on Saturday.
"However, it seems the youth may either have followed the girl or at some stage been in her company.
"Although she was not hurt this was a serious incident and we are appealing for witnesses. We want to hear from anyone who might have seen the girl and youth in the vicinity of Oxon School. It is important we establish their exact movements".
DS Weaver added: "I urge anyone who thinks they may have seen these people in the area of the school early on Saturday evening to contact Shrewsbury CID by dialling 101."
A 15-year-old youth has been arrested in connection with the incident and given police bail while enquiries continue.
