Police Witness Appeal Over Wem Assault
Police today urged witnesses to come forward following an assault on a 34-year-old man in Wem.
The man received bruising and cigarette burns to his face following the assault in Aston Street at around 1.50am on Saturday, November 19.
Police investigating the incident have arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
PC Dave Carpenter, the investigating officer, said: "The town centre CCTV shows a large number of people milling about High Street and Aston Street at the time. Some of these will have seen or heard the assault taking place and I am appealing to them to contact Wem police station by calling the 101 non-emergency number".
A 26-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man have been given bail with conditions while police enquiries into the incident continue.
