Redditch Residents Urged To Shut Windows After Winyates Burglary
Police in Redditch are reminding residents to check their windows are shut and locked before going to bed following a burglary in Winyates last weekend.
Passports, a Hewlett Packard laptop, car keys and a small amount of cash were stolen from a property in Ibstock Close, after it was entered via an open ground floor window.
The burglary happened some time between midnight and 9am on Sunday, 19 August.
A police spokesperson said: "While we appreciate it has been particularly warm recently, we would like to remind people of the importance of making sure their windows are secure before they go to bed.
"This is especially relevant to windows on lower levels of a property, which can be easily accessed from the ground.
"We would also urge residents in Winyates to be on their guard for any suspicious individuals who may be loitering in the area, eyeing up properties for an open window to climb through."
Anyone with information about this burglary can call Redditch police on 0300 333 3000, quoting 274S 190812 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
