Residents Allowed Home After Donnington Property Made Safe
Residents are being allowed to return to their homes after a cordon around a property in Donnington was lifted.
Police had evacuated around 100 properties in Leonards Close this morning, after the discovery of suspected explosives materials during a routine search warrant at a property.
Explosives experts were called in to assess the finds and are now happy that the property is safe and there is no danger to the public.
Detective Chief Inspector Jason Wells from Telford CID said: "I'd like to thank local residents for their patience and understanding while we have dealt with this incident and can reassure them that, after thorough checks by experts, we are happy that the area is completely safe and there is no risk to the public.
"We have been assisted greatly today by colleagues across the emergency services and from Telford & Wrekin Council who have all helped to ensure that this situation could be dealt with as quickly as possible and ensure that disruption to local people was minimised as far as possible."
A man remains in custody at Malinsgate Police Station and is being questioned by detectives in relation to this incident.
Police will continue their investigations at the property today, but have lifted the cordon around the area to allow people back to their homes.
