Robbers Steal More Than £2,500 From Redditch Delivery Driver
Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a delivery driver had between £2,500 and £3,000 stolen from him when he was attacked on a Redditch car park.
Detectives in particular want to talk to a man who was walking in Throckmorton Road near the junction with Wharrington Hill when the robbery took place just before 2am last Thursday, 20 September.
The delivery driver, who is in 30s, had just parked his lorry on a small car park near that junction when he was attacked by two men.
He was pulled to the ground and kicked and punched. They then took from him a black bomber jacket and blue Regatta waistcoat he was wearing which contained takings in various notes. Also stolen was a bronze coloured iPod Touch in a black leather protective case, and a Nokia mobile phone.
The robbers picked up a black Adidas holdall the lorry driver had been carrying and ran off with their haul across a grass bank in the direction of Dowler's Hill Crescent.
Their victim was left with a bump on the head and soreness but did not require medical attention.
Both robbers were around 5ft 9inches in height, appeared to be in their 20s and were wearing black hooded tops and face coverings. One was stocky and wearing black tracksuit bottoms and the other was slimmer, wearing a cap beneath his hood, and grey jogging bottoms.
Detective Constable Jo Hembry of Redditch CID said: "The victim remembers seeing a man walking in Throckmorton Road just before he parked up and we would very much like that person to come forward to establish if they heard or saw anything at all that could help our investigation.
"It was quite a sustained attack and we would urge anyone else who may have heard a commotion there, noticed anything unusual or knows who was involved to get in touch."
Anyone with information should contact Det Con Hembry at Redditch CID on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident reference 30-S-200912, or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
