Shrewsbury Business Premises Targeted By Burglars
Burglars have targeted two companies on a Shrewsbury business park, escaping with cash and a large van loaded with furniture worth thousands of pounds.
Police are linking the two breakins and today issued an appeal for witnesses who may have seen the van being driven away. It was later found abandoned in Merseyside.
The burglaries happened overnight on Sunday at Turners Furniture For Living and Tile Choice, both situated on Brixton Way in Harlescott.
Doors were forced to gain entry at both firms after the offenders broke into a large service area used by several different businesses.
About £300 was stolen from Turners together with a white Volkswagen Crafter Luton van, registration number RJ61APV, which was loaded with oak furniture valued at more than £3,000.
Around £2,000 was stolen from Tile Choice as well as two carbine cutting tools.
Detective Chief Inspector Alan Edwards said: "This is a busy, built-up area and there is every chance the offenders were spotted either entering or leaving the Brixton Way area.
"The break-ins occurred between 5.30pm on Sunday and 7am yesterday. If anyone saw anything suspicious during the night into the early hours, please contact Shrewsbury police station on 101.
"We are particularly anxious to hear from anyone who may have seen the white VW van as it left the area."
Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers charity by calling 0800 555 111.
