Taxi Driver Threatened With A Knife In Wythall

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a taxi driver was robbed at knifepoint by three youths near Wythall.

It happened after the taxi driver was ordered to stop in The Fordrough, off Trueman's Heath Lane, shortly after picking up the males a few miles away in Halifax Road, Shirley, at about 10pm on Wednesday, July 21.

The driver was threatened with a knife and then punched before the offenders stole about £90 in takings and then ran from the scene. He was left shocked and with minor head injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

The robbers were described as in their late teens, two were white and the other darker skinned. They were all about 5ft in height, of medium build and wearing hooded tops.

Detective Sergeant Jon Cooper of West Mercia Police said: "We urgently want to talk to anyone who may have seen the offenders in Halifax Road waiting for the taxi or in the area around Trueman's Heath Lane after the robbery. Even the smallest piece of information could be important to this inquiry and I would ask anyone who knows anything that could help to get in touch."

Witnesses or anyone with information should call DS Cooper at Kidderminster CID on 0300 333 3000, quoting incident reference 357-N-210710 , or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
