Theft From Graves In Bromsgrove

Police are appealing for information about the theft of items from a grave in a Bromsgrove churchyard.

A blue and white vase, an In Loving Memory vase, a glass angel, two butterflies on sticks, artificial flowers on sticks and other decorative items, worth a total of £200, were stolen from the grave of siblings Philip and Michelle Bradley at St John The Baptist Church, Kidderminster Road, between 1st and 13th September.

Philip died at the age of 20 in a car crash 13 years ago, and Michelle, 36, died in March of this year. She had had a brain tumour since she was a child, which had left her disabled.

Their father Dennis Bradley said some of the items had been placed on the grave by his grandchildren in memory of their aunt and uncle.

He said: "When I saw the things had gone I totally lost it. People must be the lowest of the low to steal from the dead in a graveyard."

PC Donna Hopkins of West Mercia Police said: "It was very distressing for the family to discover the items had been stolen from the grave of their loved ones, and we are appealing for anyone with information, or anyone who knows where the items are now, to contact us on the non-emergency number 101 quoting incident 386-s-130912 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
