Thieves Break Into Car At Market Drayton
Police are reminding Shropshire motorists not to leave valuables in their vehicles overnight.
The warning follows an incident at Market Drayton where thieves smashed a window in a parked car to grab a bag, mobile phone and ipod.
It happened overnight, between 10.30pm on Sunday and 9am yesterday (Jan 9). The silver Vauxhall Corsa was parked on the road outside the owner's home in Salisbury Hill View.
Police are seeking witnesses to the incident in which a make-up bag, Blackberry 9300 Curve phone and Apple Nano ipod worth a total of around £270 were stolen. Damage to the vehicle amounted to about £100.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "It illustrates the importance of removing all items of value from parked vehicles, especially when left overnight.
"If possible, take property out of the vehicle all together, or if that's not possible, make sure things are hidden out of sight in the boot."
Information to Market Drayton police station on the non-emergency 101 number, or to the anonymous Crimestoppers independent charity on 0800 555 111.
