Two Arrested Following Bridgnorth Supermarket Robbery
Two men were arrested by police last night just minutes after a supermarket robbery in Bridgnorth.
Officers were quickly on the scene after West Mercia Police control room received a report at 9.52pm of a robbery at the Co-op in Lodge Lane.
They located two men at or near the premises, arresting them on suspicion of robbery. A quantity of cash was recovered and a blue Vauxhall Astra thought to belong to the suspects, was found nearby.
Staff in the store were threatened but no-one was seriously hurt.
The two men, aged 24 and 19, from the Birmingham area, are in custody with Staffordshire Police.
Shropshire's police commander, Superintendent James Tozer, said today: "Two suspects were arrested within a few minutes of the robbery.
"They are being questioned at a police station in Staffordshire as part of a regional investigation, led by Staffordshire Police, which also includes West Mercia, Warwickshire and West Midlands forces."
Police have also issued a witness appeal following last night's incident. They want to hear from anyone in the Lodge Lane area prior to 10pm who spotted suspicious activity which might be related.
