Two Arrested In Shrewsbury Drug Warrant
A man and a woman have been arrested and thousands of pounds worth of suspected cannabis plants seized after police carried out a drug warrant at a house in Shrewsbury.
Officers attended the address in Abbots Road just after 11.30am on Friday 31 August 2012 and more than 70 suspected cannabis plants in different stages of growth were found.
A 43-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman were arrested at the property on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis. They remain in police custody at this time.
A search of the property uncovered approximately 20 mature plants and suspected hydroponics growing. Officers also discovered several mature plants and more than 50 immature plants in a garden shed.
It is estimated that the total value of the mature plants is in the region of £15,000, with a total value upwards of £45,000 if the juvenile plants been allowed to fully mature. All the items have been seized by police.
Police Constable Andy Gardner, from Shrewsbury's Local Policing Unit, said anyone who suspected there may be drug activity taking place in their neighbourhood should report their concerns to police on 101.
"You can also pass information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you are concerned about giving your name," he added.
