Two Men Charged Following Drugs Warrant In Telford

Two men have been charged after a drugs warrant was executed in Dawley on Tuesday.

Police officers based at Malinsgate Police Station executed the warrant at an address on Parish Close at just after 7am on 31 January.

On entering the address a 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class A drug, while the second man - a 30-year-old - was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of a Class B drug.

Detailed searches of the property saw a number of items recovered that police believe are related to drugs, along with drugs with an estimated street value of more than £4000.

The two arrested men have both since been charged and appeared at Telford Magistrates Court during the course of yesterday. The 31-year-old was charged and bailed to return to court at a later date, while the 30-year-old was charged and remanded in custody.

Speaking about this operation, Detective Sergeant Richard Davies said:

"As a result of intelligence and information received from members of the public, a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act was carried out at this address in Dawley.

"The information we received has resulted in two men being charged and this hopefully sends out a clear message that we will continue to pursue those involved in the possession and supply of drugs. West Mercia Police take drug crime very seriously and act on any information received from members of the public.

"Anyone who has any concerns regarding drug crimes can either call us direct on 0300 333 3000, or they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

"We recognise that some people do not want to get involved or to give their name, so Crimestoppers provides the means for anyone to pass information about suspicious activity or crime with a guarantee of anonymity.

"It is important that people call us with information, because it is ultimately the help of the public that enables us to carry out operations and make arrests, therefore helping us to disrupt, prevent and detect crime."
