Vandal Causes £120,000 Damage To High Performance Cars

Police want help to trace a man who caused around £120,000 damage to four high performance cars in Kidderminster when he threw a corrosive substance over them.

It happened at about 1pm yesterday (Tuesday 27 July) on the car park of a business unit on the Easter business park, just off the A449 Worcester Road.

A man was seen to pour the substance from a large bottle on to a Lamborghini, Aston Martin, BMW and a Porsche before running off towards Kidderminster. Extensive damage was caused to the cars' paintwork.  The bottle was later recovered from undergrowth a short distance from the business park.

The offender was white and described as in his late teens and slim. He was wearing a Cambridge blue T-shirt, dark tracksuit bottoms with a white leg stripe and a cream coloured beanie hat.

Police are studying CCTV footage and following up a number of lines of inquiry.

PC Catherine Greig said: "This happened in broad daylight in a busy area with a lot of traffic around and I would appeal for anyone driving past who saw the incident or anyone matching this description to give us a call. It's quite likely someone saw the offender on the way to the business park or making off down the hill towards the Viaduct Inn.

"We believe he was not wearing gloves and may possibly have suffered burns from the substance he was attacking the cars with. Therefore I would urge any doctors or medical staff to contact us if they have been approached to treat unexplained injuries of this nature."

Witnesses or anyone with information should call PC Greig on 0300 333 3000, quoting incident reference 314-S-270710, or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
