Vehicle Stolen After Being Left De-Frosting In Hollywood
Police are reiterating warnings to people not to leave unattended vehicles defrosting after a car was stolen in Hollywood, North Worcestershire.
The silver Peugeot 107, registration number BW57 CWC, was taken from off a drive in Alfreda Avenue at around 7.30am on Wednesday 1st February.
The owner had left the engine running to de-ice the windscreen while he went back into the house.
A search of the area was carried out by officers, but the car, which is valued at £4,500, has not been found.
Police are advising motorists to clear windscreens with de-icer and a scraper, and then to sit in vehicles while the heater de-mists the windscreen.
Inspector Carl Paskin of West Mercia Police said: "While some thefts are opportunistic, we are also aware that in some cases offenders drive around residential areas looking for unattended vehicles left with the engines running.
"Motorists need to be aware that if their car is stolen when keys have been left in it, their insurance company may not pay up."
Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact PC Steve Hackett at West Mercia Police on 0300 333 3000 quoting incident 56-s-010212 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
