Vintage Drawing Set Stolen In Whitchurch Burglary

Police have appealed for information a burglary in Whitchurch, where items stolen included a distinctive old technical drawing set.

Watches, a laptop, digital camera and cufflinks were also among the items stolen from the house in Wellfield Way when it was broken into between about 11.45am and 1.25pm on Tuesday 10 July 2012.

Detective Constable Dave Bettison, who is investigating the crime, said at least two of the items stolen held great sentimental value for the victims, as they had belonged to the householder's father.

"Among the items taken was a black box with a black velvet lining that contained a vintage set of stainless steel technical drawing instruments, such as a protractor, compass and pencils. It had belonged to the victim's father and is about 80 years old," he said.

"A set of silver cufflinks with real pearl insets that had also belonged to his father were taken. Both of these items have huge sentimental value for the victims.

"Other items included a Dell laptop with a bright yellow lid, a pair of Bulgari sunglasses, a Nikon digital camera, a Bulova Accutron Kirkwood watch with a silver dial, a Pulsar men's chronograph watch, several other sets of cufflinks and a dark mahogany cufflinks box with a silver oval on the top.

"If anyone has been offered such items for sale under dubious circumstances, please could they contact police on 101.

"The burglary happened in broad daylight and I am keen to hear from anyone who might have seen or heard suspicious persons or vehicles in the Wellfield Way area during that morning and early afternoon.

"Information can also be passed on anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where a reward is sometimes offered."
