Witness Appeal After Man’s Jaw Broken In Bromsgrove Assault

Police in Bromsgrove are appealing for witnesses to an assault in which a man was left with a broken jaw.

The man was walking away from the town centre along Worcester Road at 1.30am on Saturday (25 August) with a friend when they saw a man lying on the floor, opposite Charlie's Kebab House.

The victim went to help the man at which point, two men approached him and began to provoke him into fighting them.

The first man head butted the victim to the face and was then punched in the jaw by the second man.

Detective Constable Hilary Martin is investigating the incident. She said: "This was a completely unprovoked attack in which a man was assaulted after trying to help someone.

"The first offender is described as white, 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall, of an average build, wearing a red top and had a goatee style beard with moustache.

"The second man is also white, of the same height and build, wearing a grey top and had short dark hair. Both men left the area towards Bromsgrove town centre.

"There was a third man with the two offenders, but he is not believed to have taken part in the assault. I would appeal for him and also the man who was lying on the floor - the one who the victim went over to help - to come forward, so that we can at least eliminate them from our inquiries.

"It was a busy time of night with people out and about on the bank holiday weekend, leaving the local bars, and I would appeal for anyone else who may have witnessed this incident to contact us."

Anyone with information about this incident can contact Det Con Martin on 0300 333 3000, quoting 49S 250812, or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
