Witness Appeal Following Robbery In Ludlow
Police investigating a street robbery in Ludlow, today appealed for a young woman to make contact.
They believe she may have witnessed an incident on Gravel Hill in which a man was accosted and assaulted on Friday night.
Detective Sergeant Andrew Chatting, the investigating officer, said today: "A man in his thirties who was with his pregnant wife and their dog, was approached by a man at around 9.40pm who tried to take his bike. They wrestled over the machine and then the man took some money from the victim's pocket before making off.
"He then returned and assaulted the injured party again. During this incident, the suspect approached a young blonde female at the junction of Gravel Hill and Station Drive and then fled through Somerfield car park."
DS Chatting appealed for witnesses of the incident to contact either Ludlow police station or Shrewsbury CID on 0300 333 3000. "In particular, we are appealing for the young woman with blonde hair to get in touch," he said.
A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged with robbery and two counts of criminal damage. He is due to appear before Shrewsbury magistrates later today.
