Witness Appeal Following Robbery In Telford

Police in Telford are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in the town. The incident occurred near the Ketley Brook roundabout on Sunday 9 September.

Sometime between 7.20pm and 7.55pm, as the victim - a 25-year-old man - made his way towards the Wrekin Retail Park an unknown man approached him and stole a Samsung Touch mobile phone worth £150 from him.

The man who stole the phone is described as being white, with a bald head and as wearing a black hooded coat and Adidas tracksuit bottoms with orange stripes down the side.

A police spokesman said:

"We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this robbery but are particularly keen to trace the driver of a vehicle who stopped and spoke to the victim just after he had been robbed.

"The man police wish to trace is described as being white, aged in his late 20s and as driving a Nissan Qashqai.

"This man had stopped his car at the traffic lights and asked the victim if he was OK before then driving off. Police are keen to speak to him to see whether he witnessed anything prior to stopping his car to speak to the victim.

"A 40-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this robbery but he has since been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

"Anyone with information about this robbery, especially the man in the Nissan Qashqai, is asked to contact West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 254N 090912.

"Alternatively, please remember that Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111."
