It happened at around 12.10am on Saturday in Callow Lane.

The Honda 250cc trike was being ridden along the lane when the rider lost control and hit the post.

He was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with serious face and head injuries and later transferred to a specialist hospital at Stoke.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "There were a number of people present at the time and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed any part of this incident not already spoken to, to contact Shrewsbury police station by calling 101."
