Witnesses Sought After Tesco Robbery In Bromsgrove

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after masked raiders stole around £5,000 worth of cigarettes from a Bromsgrove store last night (Thursday, 12 July).

It happened at Tesco Express in Old Birmingham Road, Marlbrook, at about 10pm when two men wearing dark clothing and face coverings burst into the store and shouted at staff to get out of the way.

They jumped over the counter, filled large bags they were carrying with cigarettes and then left. They drove off in a medium sized, white hatchback down Braces Lane towards the A38.

Detective Constable Nadia Prescott of Bromsgrove CID said: "No weapons were seen during the robbery and no-one was hurt but this was still a traumatic experience for those in the store at the time.

"Apart from two staff members there was also a white woman who was a customer in the store but she left before our arrival and we have no details for her. It is vital that we speak to her as part of our investigation and I would urge her to contact us as soon as possible. We also want to hear from anyone else who may have been near the shop at the time who may have seen anything of this incident.

"Small details can be important so even if you don't think you saw something significant please pick up the phone. "

Anyone with information can contact Det Con Prescott at Bromsgrove CID on the non-emergency number 101, quoting incident reference 724-S-120712, or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
