Witnesses Sought To A49 Collision, Leominster

Police are appealing for witnesses after a collision occurred on the A49 south of Leominster on Tuesday (8 November) that left two women injured. They would particularly like to speak to the driver of a vehicle that may have witnessed the collision but did not stop.

Just after 7.20pm, two cars were attempting to overtake a 4x4 towing a trailer on the A49 southbound close to the junction with the A417, when the second car struck a car coming in the opposite direction.

Two women were taken to Hereford Country Hospital to be treated for minor injuries and the collision led to the A49 being closed at Dinmore Hill until 10.30pm.

PC Dean Smith, who is investigating the incident, said: "I would like to appeal for any witnesses who saw this collision to come forward.

"I would particularly like to speak to the driver of the first car that overtook the other vehicle - which has been described as a silver or white Volkswagen - because they may have vital information.

"The driver did not stop at the scene, but they may not have realised a collision had happened behind them, so I urge them to come forward."

PC Smith can be contacted via the West Mercia Police non-emergency line, 0300 333 3000, or information can be passed on anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
