Worcester Supermarket Break In – Witness Appeal
Police in Worcester are appealing for information about a burglary at Tesco Express on Brindley Road, Warndon.
Officers were alerted to the incident at 4.40am this morning (Thursday, 9 February) following a call from the scene by Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.
The Fire Service was responding to an automatic alarm activation from the store. It is believed offenders were trying to get into a cash machine at the premises, although no money was taken in the incident.
It is thought the shop was broken into at around 12.30am and the offenders were on site until shortly before the Fire Service arrived.
PC Oliver Potter from Worcester police station said: "This was a well planned job and we believe the offenders were disturbed before gaining full access to the cash machine.
"It is thought they may have entered and left via the rear of the store, and I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw any suspicious vehicles or people to get in touch."
Anyone with information about this incident can call PC Potter on 0300 333 3000, quoting 26N 090212 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
