Apply to Become A Special Constable

Eligibility

To join as a special constable you must be aged 18 at the time of applying.

Anyone who has been unsuccessful within our recruitment process or that of another Force in England and Wales is not eligible to re-apply for six months from when they were unsuccessful.

Assessment and selection

Everyone who applies to join West Mercia is subject to an assessment and selection process. This is a nationally designed process.

How long does the recruitment process take?

From when you submit your application to when you join a course could take up to 18 months.  However, this can vary depending on individual circumstances, the time checks may take to complete and availability of courses.

Medical requirements

All Special Constables must be of good health - both physically and mentally.
