Please note that West Mercia Police is not currently recruiting new student officers. It is anticipated that we will not be recruiting externally for student officers during 2013.

Police Pay and Benefits
As a police constable, you will be able to take advantage of a wide range of benefits. Police pay is reviewed annually - see our salary scales for more information.
Hours of Work
The normal working week is 40 hours on a shift basis. Shift patterns vary between divisions, days, nights and weekends. Shifts cover 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
All ranks below superintendent are entitled to two rest days a week and compensation if required to work over those two days. They are also entitled to leave or compensation in lieu of public holidays.
In certain circumstances, it is possible to work part-time and flexible hours. It may not be possible to work part-time or flexible hours during initial training.
