Superintendent Amanda BlakemanSuperintendent Amanda Blakeman

Amanda's career began with West Mercia in 1992 when, after her initial training, she was posted to Redditch. Upon completing her probationary period she joined and remained a part of 24 hour response policing and neighbourhood policing for eight years serving within Redditch and Worcester. Amanda then worked as a Divisional Training Officer for two years mainly on a one-to-one basis with probationary officers but also with the responsibility of delivering training locally. In 2003 Amanda was promoted to the rank of sergeant working on 24 hour response, within custody and within a specialist violent crime unit.

After promotion to Inspector in 2006, Amanda undertook the responsibility for the Redditch and Bromsgrove intelligence and proactive functions, as well as being one of the divisional senior investigating officers (SIOs). She then moved to HQ as a Detective Inspector on the Force Serious and Organised Crime Unit. During this time her work was recognised when she received a National Award from the British Association for Women in Policing under the category 'Excellence in Performance'

She was promoted to the rank of Chief Inspector in 2008 , initially being seconded to the Regional Intelligence Unit where she developed the critical processes around identifying and disrupting Organised Crime Groups. She then moved to North Worcestershire where she had the role of Chief Inspector Operations with responsibility for the provision of 24 hour Policing services across the territory. During this period Amanda qualified as a firearms commander

In her own time Amanda studied for and was proud to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honours in Crime and Criminology.

Amanda was promoted to Superintendent in 2011 where she was delighted to accept her current posting as Territorial Policing Commander at Telford and Wrekin. She is looking forward to using her experience and operational policing background to serve the local community.
