Application forms and fees

The forms listed and categorised as Statutory must be used to make an application. Applications submitted in other formats, or on alternative documents, may not be accepted.

The forms listed and categorised as Optional, are provided for convenience only but provide a standardized format for disclosing information to the firearms licensing department.

Please ensure:

  • The application form is fully complete, giving all the information requested. If you are not sure how to answer any of the questions, please do not hesitate to ask us.
  • Ensure your Referee(s) have fully completed Part F "Referee Details". You must have known your referee(s) for at least 2 years; Referees must be resident in Great Britain, not be a member of your family, a registered firearms dealer, a serving police office, police employee or police and crime commissioner or their support staff. Referees must be of good character.
  • Enclose 4 passport photographs, one signed, by yourself, on the reverse of the photos. Please also print your name.
  • Send the Application form, Photos, Referee(s) form and Cheque/Postal Order to: Firearms & Explosives Licensing Unit, Malvern Police Station, Victoria Road, Malvern, Worcestershire, WR14 2TE
  • Please note any incomplete applications will be returned and not processed until correctly completed.

Once you have submitted your application please view our current processing timescales to give you an indication of the length of time your application may take to process.
