Herefordshire policing area

I am Superintendent Sue Thomas, the Local Policing Commander for Herefordshire. My policing experience has always been with West Mercia Police and I have worked in a variety of roles across the Force area both operationally and at an organisational level.

I have had much experience in delivering local policing in Herefordshire and I have previously held the Response policing and Local policing portfolios as a Chief Inspector in the County. This has given me experience of working with the people of Herefordshire and developing strong partnerships to work together in solving problems. I have also had key roles in supporting the Force to deal with threats both as a tactical firearms commander and public order commander.

I am proud of my team and recognise that my people are key to delivering a quality service and draw upon my previous training background to develop staff. However,  I recognise that we do not always get things right and I am willing to listen to the views of the public if they feel our standards of service were not what they should have been.

Herefordshire is a beautiful County and, with our partners, we work hard to ensure it remains a low crime area and a safe place to live, work and visit.  The key focus in my role of leading policing is based on 3 key elements:- Who presents the most risk? Who is at the most risk? Where is at the most risk?

I am committed to maximising our visibility, engaging with the public, problem solving with communities and partners and ensuring an effective communication flow. I recognise that by taking this approach, we will positively impact on communities being able to trust and have confidence in us and the Policing service we provide.

I am here to lead and influence Policing and to protect you from harm. If you have any information or intelligence to help us achieve that or you simply wish to tell me your views on our service then please let me know.
