The Shropshire Policing Area serves a population of over 306,000 people and a geographical area of some 3,487 square kilometres. The area is made up of a number of market towns spread across a large rural expanse.

The area command is at Shrewsbury and the Shropshire Policing Area Commander is Superintendent Jason Wells.

There are 20 Safer Neighbourhood Teams supported by Patrol Teams, a Criminal Investigation Department and a number of Specialist Teams working across the County. Collectively, the officers and staff working in Shropshire are committed to reducing crime and disorder, providing an emergency response, providing a quality service to victims and witnesses and making our communities feel safe.

We assess incidents on the basis of threat, risk and harm and have a particular focus on protecting those who are most vulnerable and tackling those who cause us all the most harm. In simple terms, our objective is to work with our partners to protect our communities from harm and deliver the best service possible.
