Young Good Citizens Awards 2015

We recently concluded the nominations period for Young Good Citizens 2015: An opportunity to recognise and publicise the great work done by many young people in our communities. The event allows us to deliver a positive message about our youth to the wider public and strengthens the relationship between police and young people.

We were delighted to hear about those aged 18 or under who have displayed great spirit and are making a real difference in their communities. We were particularly pleased to receive nominations about young people who have overcome challenges in their own lives and have still been able to make a difference to others in their community. Most Safer Neighbourhood Teams nominated at least one person (or a small group - maximum of three people) from their area. These SNT nominations were supplemented with applications from schools, youth leaders and members of the public.

All of the nominees meeting the criteria will receive a Young Good Citizen Certificate from their Safer Neighbourhood Team. In a change to previous years 3 young people (one from each of the traditional counties: Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire)  along with their proposers, will be invited to a final awards ceremony at Police Headquarters in Hindlip on Thursday October 22nd 2015 hosted by the Chief Constable, Police and Crime Commissioner and High Sheriffs. Ten further nominees will be invited to local Commendation events to be recognised locally by the Policing Area Superintendent.
