Junior Police Cadet scheme starts at Sir Alexander Fleming in Sutton Hill

Children at Sir Alexander Fleming in Sutton Hill in Telford are this week learning more about the police and how to keep safe.

Issued with special Junior Police Cadet caps, t-shirts and notebooks ten children in Year 6 began their 6 week training as Junior Police Cadets this week.

Leading with an engaging and exciting lesson plan, officers from the local Safer Neighbourhood Team in Telford are delivering sessions designed to help them be safe with their possessions, their home and how to keep safe when using the internet. Some of the other areas and topics covered are communication, road safety, forensics, and anti-social behaviour. The officers will also take them to visit the police control room at Shrewsbury.

The course has been designed by and delivered by Police Community Support Officer Stephen Dunn-Brown and Police Community Support Officer Emma Smeilus.

The final element of the course is a traditional 'passing out parade' on July 4th when the Junior Police Cadets will receive certificates of achievement from the local Inspector and in front of the school and their parents
