Witnesses sought to assault in Worcester

Officers are investigating a report of an assault in Worcester.

At around 1.15pm on Monday (5 June), a man in his 30s was attacked in the park between Martindale Close and Bearcroft Avenue in Worcester.

The victim suffered injuries to his ribs, fingers, and head and is also understood to have suffered a stab wound to his upper leg, which is not believed to be life-threatening. He was taken to hospital.

Enquiries are currently ongoing but police would like anyone who saw the incident, or who was in the area at the time to come forward.

Detective Inspector John Cashion said: "I would reassure the community that this was an isolated incident and incidents of this nature are very rare. We are however, looking to establish exactly what went on and are keen to speak to anyone who saw anything in the park at the time of the incident.

"Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could help with our investigation."

*A 23-year-old man from Wolverhampton arrested on suspicion of assault GBH with intent has been released under investigation.

* A 17-year-old boy from Worcester arrested on suspicion of assault GBH with intent and possession of a controlled drug has been released with no further action.

*A 19-year-old man from Worcester arrested on suspicion of assault GBH with intent has been released with no further action.

*A 27-year-old man from Worcester arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply - cannabis was given a police caution.
