Special Constables provide reassurance at Olly Murs gig

On 25 June 2017, West Mercia Police Special Constables provided a police presence at the Olly Murs gig at Worcestershire County Cricket Club.

Officers worked with the private organisers, the security firm and Highways England to provide reassurance to the thousands of people who attended the event. During the event they monitored the car parks, the crowds, and the artists in addition to other duties.

Special Inspector Lee Freeman said: "After recent events we needed to make sure that the public felt they could continue with their day to day activities and enjoy events like these".

During the event officers engaged with members of the public and received thanks and positive comments for their work with the community and for helping to keep people safe.

Special Inspector Freeman said: "The event passed off without any major issues. Many of the officers that worked said it was one of the best events they have ever worked. Officers received a high amount of praise from the artist and also members of the public. They even got a cheeky picture with support artist X Factor star Louisa Johnson".
