Kidderminster Police Station event to celebrate West Mercia Police's 50th anniversary

In October 1967, the then West Mercia Constabulary was created through the amalgamation of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Worcestershire and Worcester City police forces.

As we celebrate our 50th there are new projects and initiatives and launching across all policing areas. As part of these, like the local police station open days, we are given the opportunity to highlight some of the force's achievements over the years, demonstrate what our priorities are today and showcase how we are evolving to better serve our communities in the future.

This weekend the Wyre Forest the Safer Neighbourhood Team is at the KidderminsterPolice Station Open Day on Sunday 17th September between 11:00 - 15:00 at the Police Station on Habberley Road.

During the Kidderminster Open Day you can expect:

· Custody tours - the doors are unlocked and you can come and have a look at the Kidderminster Custody facility.

· Peak behind the curtain - come and have a look at the Police Station behind the front counter and see what officers do there.

· Large exhibitor area - the outside of the station is thrown open to a huge variety of exhibitors from specialist police departments to partners. Exhibitors include the Police dog section, Firearms Unit, Police Motorcyclists, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, Scenes of Crime Officers, Police Museum, Police Band and a display of classic Police cars are amongst many exhibitors from Police and partners.

· Members of the Special Constabulary and the Police Cadets will be supporting the event and happy to speak to you if you are interested in this exciting opportunity.

· Snacks and refreshments available

If you would like to come along and learn about what we do and how we work to protect the most vulnerable from harm, then pop along this Sunday 17th September between 11am and 3pm at the Kidderminster Police Station on Habberley Road.
