Free life-saving 'biker down' courses in October - 28 September 2016

Bikers across Warwickshire and West Mercia are invited to attend one of two upcoming free 'Biker Down' courses in October, offering potentially life-saving skills, which are taking place in Kidderminster, Worcestershire and Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire.

Biker Down

Kidderminster - Sat 15th October 10am-1pm

Henley-in-Arden - Thurs 20th October 10am-1pm

The Biker Down course is delivered in partnership by a number of organisations who all have a vested interest in reducing motorcycle-related casualties and reducing the severity of injuries sustained, including: the Safer Roads Partnership, Warwickshire Police, West Mercia Police, Midlands Air Ambulance, IAM RoadSmart, Hereford and Worcester Fire & Rescue Service, and Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Designed for motorcyclists of all ages and abilities, Biker Down is a free three-hour course which offers bikers the chance to learn practical skills to help avoid being involved in a collision, as well as essential first-aid training and advice on what to do should they find themselves first at the scene of a collision where a motorcyclist is injured. The course is made up of three modules: Collision scene management, Basic first aid and casualty care (including CPR and helmet removal) and 'The science of being seen' - advice on visibility and positioning.

Biker Down is a national course which originated in Kent, and has already been adopted by numerous other areas across the UK including Gloucestershire, Dyfed Powys and West Midlands.

The Biker Down course is three hours long and is available on the following dates:

  • Saturday 15th October - Kidderminster, Worcestershire (10am-1pm)
  • Thursday 20th October - Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire (10am-1pm)

Approximately 20 places are available on each course and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Full location details will be provided to course attendees once their place is confirmed.
