Free rider skills day for bikers in Herefordshire and Worcestershire! - 13 May 2015

Motorcyclists across Worcestershire and Herefordshire are being encouraged to come along to a Rider Skills Day in Hereford this weekend where they can take advantage of a free one-hour assessed ride-out with a qualified IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists) observer!

The Safer Roads Partnership in Warwickshire and West Mercia has joined forces with Worcester and Hereford Advanced Motorcyclists (WHAM) to organise the event which takes place on Sunday 17th May at Sutton St Nicholas Village Hall in Hereford (10am-4pm).

Anna Higgins, Communications Manager at the Safer Roads Partnership said "The Safer Roads Partnership works with local partners and motorcycling groups to try and reduce the number of motorcyclists killed and injured in collisions. Rider skills days are a series of motorcycle safety events aimed at moped, scooter and motorcycle riders. Events aim to help riders improve their skills and be more confident on the roads. It doesn't matter if you're an experienced rider or have just got your first set of wheels, the assessed ride-outs will have something to offer everyone so come along and find out for yourself!"

Free assessed rides on your own bike with a qualified observer from Worcester and Hereford Advanced Motorcyclists will be available on the day on a first-come-first-served basis but bikers are advised to pre-book to avoid disappointment. Riders can pre-book by emailing wham.skillsday@gmail.com

Riders will also have the opportunity to sign up for the IAM Skills for Life programme and take advantage of a substantial cost saving on the price of a course.

Paul Whitcombe, Chairman of Worcester and Hereford Advanced Motorcyclists said "We are delighted to once again be working with the Safer Roads Partnership on this important road safety initiative. Any riders who sign up for a discounted Skills for Life programme with us on the day will be allocated a local observer who will guide them through the course at a mutually convenient time. The course content is designed to help those riders who wish to improve their skill level, up to IAM test standard, and can only help improve the safety of those involved. You have nothing to lose but everything to gain!"

Please note, free assessed ride-outs are available for full licence holders only. For more information about the event, visit http://www.wham-motorcycling.org/2015-rider-skills-day/
