Search continues for missing Malvern woman Mary Yap

Police searching for Leung Yap (better known as Mary Yap), who went missing from her home in Malvern on 18 November, are continuing to look around the river in Powick.

Reports suggest that 72-year-old Mary was last seen on the A449 (Malvern Road) bridge over the river Teme in the Worcestershire town of Powick. West Mercia Police's search and rescue effort around that area has so far enlisted the skills of specialist divers, dog handlers, and aerial surveillance teams. To date a bag, which is believed may belong to Mary, has been found in the river.

Jerry Reakes-Williams, Detective Chief Inspector at West Mercia Police, said: "Mary has not been seen or heard from for about two weeks now and her family are understandably very distressed. We're doing everything we can to search the area, but we are still keen for anyone with information to come forward.

"If you've seen Mary or have any information about her whereabouts, please get in touch with us. Even the smallest detail could prove to be useful."

Mary is described as being of Chinese origin, about 5ft 2 inches tall, with greying black hair cut into a short bob style. She was last seen wearing black trousers.

Please phone the police on 101 to report any information that could help find Mary. Alternatively, you can phone the Missing People charity (missingpeople.org.uk) on 116 000.
