Fire in Tolladine Road, Worcester - update

Tolladine Road in Worcester has now reopened following a fire in a building this afternoon (Wednesday 3 January).

Emergency services were called to the fire at approximately 2.50pm. On attendance, a man in his seventies was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene, officers are working to locate his next of kin. Several other people were assessed by ambulance staff but did not require hospital treatment.

A cordon remains in place outside the building.

Detective Inspector John Cashion from West Mercia Police said: "Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, but at this stage it is not believed to be suspicious.

"We would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding whilst road closures were in place and emergency services were in attendance."
