Update on Hereford murder investigation

Police investigating the death of 33-year-old Hereford man Robert Eacock have released four people without charge

No further action will be taken against the two men who were originally arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a man and a woman arrested on suspicion of attempting to pervert the course of justice.

A 48-year-old man from Hereford arrested last night on suspicion of assisting an offender remains in police custody.

Robert died in hospital last night (29th January) after suffering stab wounds during an incident on Commercial Street, Hereford at around 12.05pm yesterday.

A post mortem has shown Robert died from a single stab wound.

Superintendent Sue Thomas said: "Early indications are that both the victim and offender were known to each other.

"Once again, I'd like to thank the many members of the local community who have co-operated with our investigations and remained patient during the disruption to our town centre. The cordon has now been lifted around the area where the incident happened."

Officers are urging anybody with information to come forward. We would also like to make an appeal to anyone who is in possession of any footage of the incident. Please phone 101 and quote incident reference 249S of 290118.
