Appeal for witnesses to fatal collision near Kidderminster

Officers from West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision near Kidderminster.

It happened on The Terrace in Clows Top at around 7.20pm on Friday 2 February and involved a grey Lexus and a red Perodua Nippa.

The Lexus was travelling along the B4202 from the Cleobury Mortimer direction towards Abberley. And the Perodua was travelling along the A456 from the direction of Bewdley towards Newnham bridge.

The driver of the Perodua, a 52-year-old man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. His passenger, a 48-year-old woman was seriously injured and taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham where she remains in a stable condition.

His next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the Lexus was uninjured.

Investigating Officer PC Nick Gimbert is keen to speak with anyone who saw the incident, or who saw the vehicles and the manner in which they were being driven prior to the collision. Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting 632s of 2 February.

* A 45-year-old man from Worcester has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been released under investigation while investigations continue.
