Did you see a cash in transit robbery in Shrewsbury?

Police were called to Arlington Way in Shrewsbury at around 2.40pm yesterday (Tuesday) following a report of a cash in transit robbery.

Two men are reported to have approached a guard as he was returning to his security van and assaulted him.

The men - wearing balaclavas and dressed in dark clothing - managed to take a cash box before leaving in a black Seat Leon. The vehicle is believed to have travelled down Sundorne Road and onto Moston Road. It was recovered shortly afterwards near some garages on Albert Gardens.

The victim did not suffer serious injuries but was left shaken up by the incident.

Enquiries are ongoing but officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time.

Inspector Charles Parker said: "A thorough investigation has been launched following this incident, and we are thankful that nobody was injured.

"We are appealing for any witnesses to come forward. Any information, no matter how small, could be significant to our investigation."
