Man arrested following incident in Foregate Street, Worcester

Police have arrested a 40 year old male from Worcester on suspicion of racially aggravated public order following an incident that occurred at approximately 8.20am today, Friday 6 April 2018 in Foregate Street, Worcester.

The incident is believed to have occurred after the male had been waiting for a train in Worcester Foregate Station.  After missing his train, it is alleged he became verbally abusive to staff and members of the public.

Just before 08.20am it is alleged he shouted abuse at an unknown black male on Foregate Street, Worcester. 

A member of the public who witnessed the incident, phoned police and officers from Worcester D-SHIFT Response reacted immediately, attending the location and arresting the male on suspicion of Racially Aggravated Public Order. 

Enquiries are ongoing to identify members of the public who were in the area at the time.
