Appeal for witnesses following suspicious incident in Redditch

West Mercia Police is appealing for witnesses or information following an incident in Redditch yesterday afternoon (Monday 9 April).

At approximately 2.30pm, two teenage girls were approached by a male near to the skate park in Morton Stanley Park, Webheath.

The male questioned the girls before making an inappropriate hand gesture towards them and encouraging them to follow him. The girls were then joined by male friends and the male ran off.

He is described as white, slim, around 5ft 11ins, aged between 17 and 20, with a slight moustache and 'slicked back' brown hair with blond highlights. He was wearing blue denim-like trousers, a brown or mustard leather jacket and a checked shirt. He was also wearing earphones in his ears and spoke with a lisp.

PC Heather Holland from Redditch police station said: "An investigation is now ongoing and we are appealing for any witnesses or information. Thankfully, the girls were not injured but were left understandably shaken by this incident.

"If anyone recognises the description of the male or witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, please call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident reference 648s of 9 April 2018."

Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website
