Appeal for witnesses to Market Drayton robbery

Officers are appealing for witnesses to a robbery in Market Drayton.

A man in his 30s was in Stafford Street outside the Salopian Star public house at around 8pm on Tuesday (27 June) when he was approached by another man.

The man is reported to have punched the victim to the face before taking various items of his property including a mobile phone, a bank card and a quantity of cash. He then left on foot towards the Crown Public House.

The victim suffered head injuries, which were not life-threatening, and was subsequently taken to hospital. He has since been discharged.

A 29-year-old man from Market Drayton was arrested on suspicion of robbery. He remains in police custody at this time.
