Update: Body found in River Severn, Worcester

West Mercia Police recovered the body of a man from the River Severn, near to Quay Street, Worcester yesterday (Wednesday 31 October) at around 3pm.

The body is believed to be that of Steven Downing who went missing on Sunday evening (28 October) after leaving Worcester Shrub Hill station at around 8:15pm.

Superintendent Damian Pettit said: "Sadly, the body of a man was recovered from the River Severn yesterday (31 October). It is believed that it is Steven Downing, who went missing on Sunday evening (28 October) in Worcester. His death is currently being treated as unexplained, the investigation  is on-going."

Next of kin have been informed and formal identification will take place in due course, dedicated officers are supporting next of kin in this difficult time.
