Man charged following shop robberies in Worcester

A 38 year-old man from Worcester has been charged in connection with two incidents in Worcester which took place on the 23 December at Co-Op on Ambleside Drive and the other at Londis on Saturday 29 December.

Simon Edkins from Lichfield Avenue, Worcester, appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on New Year's Day 2019 charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of possessing a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid/gas/electrical incapacitation device, attempt to possess a controlled drug of Class A and refusing to provide a sample for Class 'A' drug test.

The substance sprayed appears to have had no lasting effects however both victims were appropriately treated following contact.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Worcester Crown Court on 28 January 2019.
