Police vehicle damaged by group in Redditch

West Mercia Police is appealing for information after a police vehicle was damaged while officers were on foot patrol in the Woodrow Centre, in Redditch.

The incident happened at around 6.35pm on Sunday 30 December 2018 when the vehicle, a marked police car, was parked in Woodrow Centre car park.

PC Daniel Icke from West Mercia Police said: "Officers were dealing with something close to the Woodrow Centre and had left their patrol car in the car park when they received a call from a member of the public saying a group of young people were jumping up and down on the car's roof.

"Not only is this violence mindless it is also criminal and comes at great cost to the taxpayer. It means a police vehicle normally available for officers to support their community could be taken off the road while being repaired.

"If anyone has any information which could assist us in establishing the full circumstances surrounding this incident please contact police on 101 quoting incident reference 0499S of the 30 December 2018. Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
