Three incidents of theft of parts from Landrover Defenders reported to the Police on Friday the 4th of January 2019.

Parts were stolen from three Landrover Defenders between the 3rd and 4th of January 2019.

Landrover Theft

West Mercia Police received three reports on Friday the 4th of January 2019 concerning the theft of parts from Landrover Defenders.

Between 5pm on Thursday the 3rd and 12:30pm on Friday the 4th of January 2019, a bonnet was stolen from a Landrover Defender.  The vehicle was parked on a gravel drive on Forester Gardens, Much Wenlock, at the time of the incident.  This theft was recorded as incident 0250S 040119.

At approximately 11:24pm on Thursday the 3rd of January 2019, a bonnet was stolen from a Landrover Defender parked on the car park of the Wood Bridge Inn.  This theft was reported as incident 0731S 030119.

A short time later, at approximately 11:45pm on Thursday the 3rd of January 2019, both front doors and front seats were stolen from a Landrover Defender parked in an open sided barn on Coalport Road, Broseley. The victim heard muffled voices and engine noise (not the Landrover), at the time of the theft.  This theft was reported as incident 0081S 040119.

The Wood Bridge Inn and Coalport Road thefts appear to be linked as both sets of stolen Landrover parts were discovered the following morning in nearby woodland, partially hidden under some rubbish.  It is also likely that the theft from Much Wenlock is linked.

Production of the Landrover Defender ceased in January 2016 and as a result spare parts for the vehicle are in high demand by owners.  This has led to an increase in the theft of parts from Landrover Defenders.
