Safer Roads - Police recovered a stolen car on false registration plates in Shifnal on the 21st of March 2019.

A stolen car was recovered by Police in Shifnal after a check was conducted.

Safer Roads - West Mercia Officers have successfully recovered a Ford Fiesta ST from Lovell Close, Shifnal, at 11:30am on the morning of Thursday the 21st of March 2019.

Officers in the area of Lovell Close, Shifnal, conducted checks on an orange Ford Fiesta ST. The check was carried out as Officers were aware that an orange Ford Fiesta ST had been stolen from Lichfield, Staffordshire. The registration on the vehicle was not that of the stolen one, but further checks showed that the Vehicle Identification Number, which is a number unique to each vehicle and is linked to the registration, was the correct one of the stolen vehicle. It soon became apparent that the vehicle was the one stolen from Staffordshire and those involved in the theft had fitted it with false registration plates.

Officers seized the vehicle and arranged for its recovery and eventual return to the owner.

The car was stolen from Lichfield, Staffordshire, on the morning of Wednesday the 20th of March 2019. If you were in the area of Lovell Close, Shifnal, between the morning of the 20th and the morning of the 21st of March and saw the arrival of an orange Ford Fiesta ST, and saw the people who were with the vehicle, please call the Police on 101 and refer to incident 0214S 210319.

Checks will be conducted and then the appropriate action will be taken. The Police have the power, in certain circumstances, to seize uninsured vehicles or vehicles that have expired tax.
